New Lake Charles Public Works Transit Facility

Keiland Construction recently began the complete renovation of a historic 12,600 square foot building, formerly a bank, then later used as the local office for the State of LA Department of Motor Vehicles. This $3.6 million dollar job is a high profile project located in the garden district of downtown Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The renovated building will have a state of the art computer automated transportation system and will house the administrative offices for the City of Lake Charles Department of Public Works, Transit Division as well as the Office of Community Development.

In addition to the building renovation, this project consists of new construction of a 1,327 square foot open air bus transfer canopy, a covered pavilion, a 13,500 gallon water fountain and a small park. All exterior cladding will be removed and replaced with metal stud framing and brick veneer. New electrical and mechanical systems will be installed. Site work will include demolition of all existing paving and canopy structures.

As the General Contractor, Keiland is responsible for overseeing the entire process from demolition to receiving a certificate of occupancy. Keiland is committed to completing this project on time and within budget.
