Keiland Construction recently completed the newest all-suite Marriott hotel in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Serving as construction manager on this design-build project, Keiland helped develop, design and construct the hotel valued at approximately $12 million dollars.
The five-story hotel contains 108 guest room suites. The 72,384 square foot building is made of steel and concrete planks. The exterior walls on the first floor are finished with cultural stone and the remaining external walls are finished with stucco. The guest rooms are in accordance with the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA). Each guest room is heated and cooled with a packaged terminal air conditioner.
The first floor contains a board room and two conference rooms with approximately 3,500 square feet of meeting space, front desk, swimming pool and spa, fitness center, full service bar, lounge, commercial laundry room, two mechanical/electrical rooms, four restrooms and hotel offices. The public areas are heated and cooled with roof-top units. The second through fifth floors are serviced by two elevators and emergency stair ways, one at each end. A unique water wall fountain near the entrance of the hotel provides a cool and refreshing ambiance to the area's outdoor patio. A second outdoor patio, located at the rear of the building, is enclosed with a privacy wall made of stucco. The hotel also features a one-of-a-kind porte cochere made of steel and cypress wood.
All interior finishes were coordinated with the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Generation Four Interior Finish. The total area of the building site is 95,350 square feet. The remaining area of the site was paved with asphalt for parking. There are 134 regular parking spaces, 39 compact spaces and 4 handicapped spaces to satisfy the ADA requirements.
Keiland Construction provided executive project management as well as electrical, carpentry and other skilled laborers during the construction phase. Keiland's owner also acted as the Lead Developer for this project.
